Join Our Team
Most mornings, the work starts in someone’s backyard. You’re looking at a slab, or a detached garage, or a stretch of lawn that’s about to become a real home – and your job is to make that happen without turning the family’s life upside down while you do it. That means shoe covers at the door, drop cloths on the floors, and a clean-up photo before the crew leaves. It means telling a homeowner exactly what’s happening and why, not leaving them guessing. At Seedling ADU Builders, that’s not a policy memo. It’s just how we work. If that’s how you already think about a job, we’d like to talk.
Who We’re Looking For
- ADU Site Crew Member: Someone who can read a plan, work clean, and take ownership of a build site from foundation to finish – without needing to be told twice.
- Garage Conversion Specialist: A builder who understands framing, insulation, electrical rough-in, and what it takes to turn a storage space into a livable room that feels like it was always there.
- Home Addition Carpenter/Framer: A framer or finish carpenter who’s comfortable working on occupied homes and treats the existing structure with as much care as the new one.
- Prefab/Modular ADU Installer: Someone with hands-on experience setting and connecting modular or prefab units – familiarity with brands like Abodu, Dvele, Mighty Buildings, or Boxabl is a genuine advantage.
- Construction Apprentice: A hard worker who’s just getting started, pays attention, asks good questions, and wants to learn a trade from people who care about doing it right.
- Customer Service / Dispatch Coordinator: An organized, calm communicator who can keep a family informed during a multi-week build, answer the phone like a person, and keep the schedule moving without letting things slip.
What We Offer
Real Training and a Clear Path Forward
We don’t hand you a hard hat and figure it out from there. Apprentices work alongside experienced leads on real ADU and addition projects, learning how jobs are actually built – permitting, sequencing, material choices, quality checks. Over time, the path from crew member to lead to project supervisor is visible and walkable. We’ve seen it happen more than once.
Work You Can Point To
When a project closes, a family moves someone they love into a home that didn’t exist six months ago. That’s the job. And because every Seedling project runs under the 365-Day Done Right Promise and the Cedarwell Care Promise, the work you hand over is work you can stand behind. No cutting corners to hit a number. No walking away from a call-back.
Local Crew, National Backing
Seedling ADU Builders is independently owned and operated – which means you’re part of a local team, not a remote division. At the same time, being part of the Cedarwell family gives the crew access to vetted supplier relationships, established brand partners like James Hardie and Plant Prefab, and a proven set of operating standards that most independent shops spend years trying to build from scratch.
Steady, Meaningful Demand
The need for ADUs, garage conversions, and home additions isn’t seasonal in the way that some construction work is. Families across the country are adding space for aging parents, adult kids, and rental income – and that need keeps a crew busy. If you want work that compounds over time rather than boom-and-bust, this is the right category to be building in.
No Experience? Read This.
If you’ve done finish carpentry, tile work, painting, landscaping, moving, or anything that required you to work carefully inside someone’s home – you already understand more than you think. The technical parts of ADU construction are teachable. What’s harder to teach is the instinct to put a drop cloth down before you set a tool bag on someone’s hardwood floor, or to knock before you open a door, or to notice when a homeowner looks confused and stop to actually explain what’s happening.
Those habits transfer. The first months on our crew are about pairing your existing instincts with real construction knowledge – working alongside a lead on live projects, learning how to read plans, understanding why we sequence things the way we do. We teach the trade. You bring the care.
